The Storytellers' Research Collective exists for writers of fiction who place a high value on technical and historical accuracy as they shape their stories, whether set in the "real world" or an imaginary setting.
We do not do formal research for one another; however, we all have unique skills, specialized knowledge, and/or particular areas of expertise that we're willing to share with fellow writers. We discuss members' current research and writing projects, suggest new avenues of intellectual pursuit, and provide general feedback to members as they incorporate newly acquired knowledge into their works. (We don't do specific manuscript critique on-list, either.)
While the list is primarily meant for those who are actively writing and marketing their work, readers, fans, and "research-aholics" are also welcome to participate, so long as the subject matter remains consistent with the group's purpose.
We are NOT open to students seeking free term-paper or homework research; along with spammers, those making this type of request will be permanently removed from the list. If requests of this kind become excessive, membership will be restricted, with members being admitted only by request.
NOTE: This list is a successor to the Yahoo Groups communities "Joys of Research" and "Storytellers' Research". Membership is not limited to alumni of these groups, but will at least initially be moderated in order to ensure that the group retains its intended focus.
